My muggle name is Dee Stevens and I’m an independent Marriage and civil union celebrant based in Auckland but available nationwide! (I travel often with other events)

As much as this story is about you as a couple - let me start off by introducing myself, and giving you an insight into who I am! I became a celebrant to provide a fresh and modern alternative to the traditional celebrancy services that are available. I work full time as a graphic designer and performer - which are both traits that I believe make a great celebrant! Great with organisation/paperwork and comfortable speaking and conversing with people of all walks of life. As cliche as it sounds - I also love LOVE! I enjoy hearing and telling love stories; I cant wait to hear yours!

My life experience as a performer and also a member of the LGBTQIA+ community allows me to be open-minded, empathetic, and super approachable! I understand each couple has their own love story and all types of love are welcome! As a younger celebrant, I can bring a contemporary approach to your day & give you the guidance or suggestions you may need. There is no request too weird - trust me on that!

In February of 2021 my husband Matt and I had the absolute pleasure of working with Dee to bring the vision of our wedding to fruition. It was amazing for us to even find Dee in the first place. Matt and I knew we needed a celebrant who could identify with an alternative couple and who would be open to a non-traditional wedding. Celebrants like this are few and far between and Dee definitely fills a gap in the market for couples who need and appreciate this.
From the minute we found Dee she was the epitome of everything she is known for – charming, bubbly, open, encouraging, professional, funny, and kind. I was quite intimidated before meeting her (I have been an Instagram follower for years) but Dee instantly put me at ease with her easy manner and humility. Dee was very open about our ideas for our wedding, and her encouragement of our non-traditional ceremony and wedding made our planning process together so enjoyable. We had an initial meeting over coffee, a second meeting over a drink, a third meeting at the venue, and loads of back and forths over email. Dee was always open to my concerns, my rewrites, and my questions, and I really felt that she sincerely wanted to do whatever she could to make our wedding exactly what we wanted.
Through every step of the process Dee explained the legalities and requirements clearly, and I was confident that she had every aspect of that side of operations thoroughly in hand. Into the mix we threw a second set of vows for our children, our families streaming in from all over the world, and a venue that was not ideal for a ceremony, and Dee took it all calmly into her stride.
I do not believe we could have found a better celebrant than Dee for our wedding. I am so grateful for everything she did for us. Our wedding was perfect, and Dee’s presence was not just a necessity but a gift. She is such an asset to the marriage celebrant community. She is open minded, open hearted, loving and professional. I cannot recommend her enough, especially if you are looking for a celebrant who is not only unafraid to step out of the box, but who leaps out of the box with you and enjoys the ride.

We chose Dee to be our celebrant as we love her vibrant personality and caring nature. When planning our wedding we decided wanted to have a celebrant that would embrace our desire for a non-traditional ceremony and that would add a very personal touch to our day. Dee made sure that she spent time getting to know the story of our relationship and wrote a very touching and personal ceremony for us. We also enlisted her help with our vows, she was wonderful at gently reminding us when they needed to be done by and helping us perfect them. We were so happy with the contribution Dee made to our special day.
